Our milestones

1946-1973
Saul Bonatti establishes the company “Ing. Saul Bonatti & F.llo” and starts his business as a contractor to the Italian Oil & Gas Drilling and Mechanical Works industries. In just a few years, through the managerial and organisational skills of the founder, the Company becomes involved in
the construction and erection of the first oil and gas plants in Italy, such as Sergnano (CR), Gatteo a Mare (FO) and Candela (FG), in which advanced welding techniques are utilised. During this period, the Company also distinguishes itself for the construction of high pressure oil & gas pipelines and for the realisation of military infrastructures and industrial building works in Italy and abroad.
1974
The Company becomes a joint stock company.
1975
Following the founder’s death, the Company is acquired by a group of entrepreneurs who now represent Bonatti Group’s main corporate leaders.
In 1976 Paolo Ghirelli, the current Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bonatti S.p.A., is appointed General Manager of the Company.
1979
Bonatti is awarded its first contract for Oil Fields Maintenance in Libya by Agip N.A.M.E. This marks the start of the Company’s activities in Libya.
1980-1984
The Company’s commercial growth, combined with market demand, leads to the expansion of Bonatti’s activities in EPC projects, offshore structures,
and civil engineering and building construction.
1992
Bonatti is awarded the construction of the Midal 40-inch pipeline and enters the German market.
1994
In Spain, Enagas awards Bonatti the first contracts for the construction of two sections of the Maghreb-Europe Gas Pipeline System.

1999
Bonatti enters Kazakhstan following the award, by KPO, of Construction Services and Operation & Maintenance contracts for the Karachaganak Plant to Bonatti. During this same period, Bonatti is awarded the first project in Algeria by the Sonatrach-Agip Joint Venture.
2005
Bonatti extends its presence in Saudi Arabia with a Saudi Aramco Project award. The Company starts work on the Kashagan Project in Kazakhstan, at that time the world’s largest oil & gas plant.
2006
Bonatti acquires Carlo Gavazzi Impianti S.p.A., an Italian-based, international contractor with strong experience in Electro-Instrumentation and Automation.
2007-2010
Bonatti’s revenue growth exceeds 20% for three consecutive years. The Company ranks among the top investors in Saudi Arabia.
The Turkmenistan Branch Offices are launched.
2011
Bonatti enters the Top 100 International Contractors in the world and is classified among the four most important Italian Contractors operating worldwide.
Due to civil war, Bonatti must evacuate its employees from Libya. The Company is the first on-shore General Contractor to return to operations in Libya at the end of hostilities.
Bonatti returns to France to execute a pipeline project and starts commercial activities in Iraq.
In Germany, Bonatti sets a record with the longest 56-inch horizontal directional drilling project in Western Europe.
2012
Bonatti returns to the New World with a project in Mexico, and starts commercial activities in Kuwait.
The last tranche of the Kashagan project is delivered to the Client.
