History of Bonatti S.p.A.

1946-1973
Coming from the Research Division of Agip Mineraria (AGIP Mining), Eng. Saul Bonatti establishes the company "Ing. Saul Bonatti & F.llo" and starts his business as a contractor for the Italian Oil & Gas Drilling and Mechanical Works Industry. In just a few years, through the managerial and organisational skills of the founder, the company is involved in the construction and erection of the first oil and gas plants in Italy like Sergnano (CR), Gatteo a Mare (FO), Candela (FG), in which advanced welding techniques are utilized.
During this period, the Company also distinguishes itself for the construction of high pressure oil & gas pipelines and for the realisation of military infrastructure and industrial building works in Italy and abroad.
1974
The company becomes a joint stock company.
1975
After the founder's death, the company is acquired by a group of entrepreneurs which now represent Bonatti Group’s main corporate governance.
1976
Eng. Paolo Ghirelli, the current Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bonatti S.p.A., is appointed General Manager of the company.
1979
Bonatti S.p.A.is awarded its first contract for Oil Fields Maintenance in Libya by Agip N.A.M.E. This marks the start of the company's activities in this country.
1980-1984
The Company’s commercial growth combined with market demand lead to the expansion of Bonatti's activities in EPC projects, in off-shore erections and in civil engineering and building construction.

1985
Acquisition of SCIC S.p.A., a well known and referenced Milan-based construction company operating in the civil construction sector.
1988
Acquisition of Icefs S.p.A., a construction company founded in Bologna in 1930 and specialised in the construction of civil infrastructures. With the incorporation of these two large companies Bonatti becomes a General Contractor in the Building & Infrastructure sector.
1992
Bonatti is awarded the construction of the Midal ND 40” pipeline and enters the German market.
1994
Bonatti is awarded in Spain by Enagas the first contracts for the construction of two sections of the Maghreb-Europe Gas Pipeline System.
1999
Bonatti enters Kazakhstan with the award by KPO of Construction Services and Operation & Maintenance contracts for the Karachaganak Plant. During this same period Bonatti is awarded the first project in Algeria by the Sonatrach-Agip Joint Venture.
2005
Bonatti extends its presence in Saudi Arabia by being awarded a Saudi Aramco Project
2006
Acquisition of Carlo Gavazzi Impianti S.p.A., a company specialised in the construction of small and medium-sized turnkey power plants, electrical, instrumentation & control system works in the Oil & Gas and Power Generation, industrial plant and building construction sectors.
2009
Bonatti develops its presence in Turkmenistan and in Congo.

 


 

Today, Bonatti Group manages 7,000 employees in 11 different countries, which include: Austria, Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Italy, Germany, Kazakhstan, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Spain and Turkmenistan.
